Hey y’all! So as you may have already heard, I’m excited to announce I’ve been named a winner in the National Geographic Traveler & Photo District News (PDN) Outdoor Photography Contest!! Winning photograph and write-up from my March 2010 Cape Verde trip are included in the online content of the September 2010 issue (although not in print) and here I’ve include screenshots of the content for if & when they’re no longer available on their site. Winning category was Outdoor Sports and Activities.

I’d like to thank good friends Rachel and Mike for the great trip to Tarrafal Beach on the other side of Santiago Island that houses the capital of Cape Verde, Praia. The mountainous central island drive there and the coastal eastern island drive return were beautiful, as was the modestly exotic destination itself! And the local children, a pleasure to photograph!
